Lessons
Private Lessons are scheduled to occur weekly, in 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute lengths. 45 minutes is optimal for covering all elements thoroughly.
Lessons cover:
How to read notes and rhythms fluently
Listening and evaluating
Technique -- how to use your fingers, hands, and arms to produce musical sounds on the piano
Theory -- understanding how music is put together
At-home practice assignment
The Successful Student has daily access to a piano and regular practice times. A piano in your home is best. Music is native to every culture, but learning to read and produce music is a lot like learning a foreign language. It takes lots of practice time and effort. Children often need encouragement and incentives because the process is longer than they realize, and the rewards less tangible than they can easily envision.
Tuition is due per term, based on a lesson fee of $16.00 per half hour, $24.00 per 45-minute, or $32.00 per hour lesson. Tuition reserves a student's time slot in the studio, and will be billed per term, payable monthly or at the beginning of the term. Students new to the studio are welcome to begin mid-term. The first tuition payment will be adjusted accordingly.
Materials – Materials costs are additional to tuition costs due to the individuality of each student. Materials will be acquired by the teacher as necessary and reimbursed by the parent no later than the following lesson. Estimated cost per year is $60 for beginner students. For budgeting purposes, you may use this number for other levels as well.
Additional Activities -- As part of a well-rounded musical experience, students share music in performances scheduled throughout the year (optional for adults). OFMC Festival occurs in March, Spring Recital in May, and Winter Recital in December. Recital costs are covered by tuition. An additional fee is assessed for Festival. Dates and times will be announced as far in advance as possible.

Recreational Piano for Adults Classes
Small classes of 3-5 members will focus on enjoying making music. With the keys right in front of you, anyone has the opportunity to make music on the piano!
Designed for adults who have always wanted to learn piano but never done so, or are sorry they quit lessons as a kid, class focuses on students' goals. 55-minute weekly classes cover a variety of topics and include lots of hands-on participation, striving to get you playing music as soon as possible without the tedium of scale drills and note-naming theory pages. Each participant sets his weekly goals and evaluates how well he reached them or asks for input on what to do differently if he didn't. Students are welcome to play the music they've practiced in class, but that's a voluntary participation aspect.
